Are Plums the New Blueberries?

Despite often being overlooked in the produce section, plums just might be the next hot power food on your shopping list. According to Dr. Luis Cisneros, a food scientist at AgriLife Research in Texas, "blueberries have some stiff competition".

Apparently, plums and other stone fruits such as peaches and nectarines have similar amounts of disease-fighting antioxidants and phytonutrients as an entire handful of blueberries! Great news, especially now, when the price of a pint of blueberries can be through the roof. The researchers say that further study is necessary, but definitely suggest including plums in your diet whenever possible.
