Does the weight loss drug Alli work?

About a year ago there was a hoopla in the media about a new weight loss drug being mass marketed in the United States (available without a prescription) called Alli. We know that a wonder weightloss drug is bound to come out - eventually, its just a question of when, and so we started wondering 'is Alli it'.

Well, its been about a year and the verdict is in. The answer about Alli is...

yes, it works, just not very well.

Alli promotes weight loss by decreasing absorption of fat by the intestines, which reduces the number of calores you absorb. The issue though is that it doesn't reduce calorie absorption that much, it must be coupled with healthy eating AND it has side effects.
