Study: Listen to Your iPod to Lose Weight

(Reuters Health Summary)

Think you've tried everything when it comes to weight loss and looking for something new? How about listening to a podcast? Yep, according to a recent study published in the
American Journal of Preventive Medicine, certain 'well-designed' podcasts can actually give you that final push you need to get on the road to shedding those excess pounds.

In the study, obese and overweight men and women listened to one of two podcasts for a span of 12 weeks. The group that listened to the "enhanced" podcasts, complete with diet, exercise and weight loss tips, plus encouraging messages that assist in setting personal goals, lost an average of 6 pounds in 12 weeks, while the other group lost an average of less than one pound in the same time span. In addition, the participants in the "enhanced" group also reported consuming more fruits and vegetables and spent more time exercising.

According to one of the authors of the study from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, effective weight-loss podcasts should be "engaging and offer sound diet and exercise advice based on behavioral theory" otherwise their effects may be minimal.

Heavy weight is really a concern these days as people are used to sit for a long time on work and don’t have time for exercises. You have pointed out some really nice tips for those suffering from this health problem. Nice one.
