Serena Williams on Diets:“I don’t even know the D word”

She may have just won her fourth Wimbledon title and be in wicked shape, but Superstar athlete Serena Williams still has her own insecurities about her body - at the beginning of this year's training season, Williams felt she wanted to lose a bit of weight. Sure, her workouts and training sessions are harder than what most of us typically accomplish in a year, but this powerhouse definitely has a level head on her shoulders when it comes to losing weight and she doesn't fall for any diet fads.

In a recent interview, Williams admitted that she wanted to lose some weight and appear less "bulky", so she's been doing a lot of pilates, yoga, cardio and strength training in order to tone and tighten up. But when it comes to what she puts in her mouth, Serena will tell you she's never been on a diet before, in fact she says she doesn't even utter the word! That's not to say that she isn't careful about what she eats - quite the contrary.

During her training, Serena follows a healthy training meal plan consisting of “Smaller portions of every meal, a lot of grilled or baked chicken or fish, and steamed veggies.” but she went on to say “I can never turn down a good piece of cherry pie."

Despite her weakness, Williams knows that diet has a huge impact on her health and her career, adding adding “all I know is that in 10 years, I don’t want to be as wide as this couch.”. Very wise words!
